About
Tasti-Pairings is the work and creation of Lisa Yee and Patrick Havens. Living in the Wine Country, we became wine enthusiasts and created our own food pairings with restaurants and wineries. Both of us were used to preparing simple and complex foods for all occasions. We look forward to sharing some of the knowledge we have to you, the reader.
Lisa Yee started her love affair of wines in the tasting rooms throughout Napa and Sonoma Counties. A successful entrepreneur, Lisa took her growing knowledge and wanted to do something with it. She continued working as an events coordinator in Hawaii and wine enthusiast with many wineries and restaurants in California, until that fateful day she broached the idea of a collaboration with Patrick Havens. The idea? Taking what sometimes was just expected, providing a background for those that go out to eat, and don’t really know what wine to pair with what food.
Patrick Havens a Graphic Artist and online pioneer by trade has lived in the Napa Valley his whole life and grew up understanding and appreciating good wine. To make sure his palate was properly taken care of, Patrick undertook many cooking courses, and has become a regular chef de jour for his friends at parties and dinners. The pairing of different wines was a very hit and miss method until teaming up with Lisa Yee with her vast knowledge of wines and also ample storage of knowledge in seasonings and balancing nose and taste.
What started as a simple task has got the two focused on providing a series of articles detailing different restaurants (different styles of food) and the wines both available and also able to be brought in for a “minor” corkage fee. One thing that has mind was that many places sometimes DON’T have the perfect wine to go with their own food. So its good to know what will work with what and be able to adjust accordingly. It’s also good to know how to make choices depending on what is available. The wine and food pairing reviews will only be one part of the “lesson.” There are a few pages just on some things to keep in mind. Sometimes when looking at a wine list of unknown wines and a menu that isn’t familiar, you will need to make a combination and do that experiment yourself. What we hope to provide is a background and also a comparison you will value for future pairings. We will do our best to go off the wine lists at each restaurant and provide you an alternate wine pairing ahead of time should you want to bring your own wine.
