Patrick’s Corner: Food Truck Fridays
Typically in our articles we go in depth on an experience. We talk about how a certain dish went well with a wine, and if possible explain why a certain wine will go with that dish. Well this won’t exactly be that type of article.
We’ve been going to Food Truck Fridays for the past few months. What this event is, is a local gourmet food wagon by the name of Dim Sum Charlies invites other local gourmet trucks to gather on their property the first Friday of the month and it becomes a free for all of affordable gourmet food. You bring your own bottle of wine, pay for a reusable GoVino glass and kick back and enjoy the evening (or buy a soda or water from a vender). As for venders; besides the Chinese Dim Sum, there has been salad wraps, sliders, indian food, Caribbean street food, fire roasted chicken sandwiches, slow cooked BBQ food, Gourmet hot dogs, various seafood treats and of course cupcakes and ice cream for desert.
Here is a possible and not complete list of some of the venders that have been involved (they change each month):
- Dim Sum Charlies
- Marks the Spot
- Crossroad Chicken
- Cochon Flying Pig Slow Cooked BBQ
- Karma
- Indian to go
- Street Eatz
- Phat Salads
- Oyster Guy
- Curry to Go
- Kara’s Cupcakes
- Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Cart
- Gourmet Chicago Style Hot Dogs
Plus nearby Gott’s Burger Stand stays open late and offers specials. So you get a great mix of decently affordable food, a great atmosphere in an area filled with tasting rooms serving great wine, and all this on a night that just cries to relax. All in all Food Truck Fridays in a win win situation.
