Ask Lisa: 2006 Peju Fifty Fifty
Patty Heinrich noted on Facebook, “Just received our shipment of wine from our trip to Napa. Can’t wait to plan a great dinner to have with each.”
Patti noted some great wines and here is what Lisa came up with.
2006 Peju Fifty Fifty – Red Wine
(50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon)
This wine can cellar from 6 to 8 years, but would be best from 2008-2013.
Persephone Vineyard is where 100% of this estate fruit is grown and picked for a rich tasting, beautiful wine.
There are aromas of bright ripe berries, plum, dark dried cherries, and currants. Almost too good to be true, the flavors offers layers of depth and richness. Who would have thought of quite a twosome mingled in rich tannins that give way to a long delicious finish and keeps on going until your last bite of French Bread topped with chevre cheese and rose pedal jelly.
How about a Spinach Salad with bacon, Grilled Onions and Blue Cheese crumbles to have as an appetizer? Perhaps for an entree’, a Beef Brisket with Prunes or a Prime Rib Roast with a Merlot gravy and Yorkshire Pudding for an old fashioned English dinner. A great vegetarian dish for this wine would be a White Pizza with Baby Portabella Mushrooms.
